uBlock Origin doesnt currently support this. Chrome just added support for this in Google Chrome Canary. I am sorry if I gave the impression to say that Dark Reader was the culprit I didn't have such intention. macOS 10.14 introduced 'dark mode', which swaps the system color palette to a dark scheme. I'm blocking them thanks to uBlock Origin and also by DNSCrypt-proxy (one of these scripts is directly located on a domain the other one has a complex url, instead.) Dark modes are in vogue right now: Windows 10 already has one and macOS is getting one later this year. I also tried a lot of suggested workarounds but nothing helps.ĮDIT: on Chromium I tried to install a dark theme: Īfter an accurate investigation by using Chromium Developer Tools, I figured out that the culprit of these white flashes, were javascripts: Dark Reader is a browser extension that turns bright websites dark, sparing your retinas. Manjaro Linux, but occurs also on Windows and Mac.Īs I set Dark Reader to "Off", white flashes are not visible. Hopefully there will be a media query for if the background is dark rather than just the user preferring dark backgrounds. For example if an app has a dark theme even in light mode. But some sites (I attach gif recordings) presents the wite flash for both browsers when using Dark Reader. The problem is that favicons can be displayed over dark backgrounds in other situations other than dark mode. I'm still experience this issue, but doesn't occurs on every website (eg: github loads fine on Chromium but the white flash occurs on Firefox).
